Halloween Crayons - Make Your Own!

I found this on Pinterest a while ago and finally got the chance to try it out.  I went to Bulk Barn and bought a Wilton's non-stick 12 mould Cookie Pan for $11.99 (had a $3 off coupon).  I figured I could use the pan again for cookies of course, but maybe also soap.

I wanted to make my crayons mostly mono colour, so first I went through my bucket for crayons, finding lots of the same Halloween colours.  Then, I had to peel them.

Next, I cut the crayons up in pieces and filled the different moulds with the different Halloween colours.

Once the mould as ready, I put it in the oven at 300 F for 10 min.  It's really, really important to only use silicone moulds or other moulds that you know are OVEN SAFE, as others may not survive!!

This is what the moulds look like, freshly out of the oven!

This is what the moulds look like once dry.

The moulds came out really easy.  I did not even have to grease the pan or anything, as this one is a non-stick pan.  This is what the finished product looked like:

I decided to bring some of them to my Friend's Halloween Party, who throws the most amazing parties ever and printed these FREE bag toppers off Pinterest.  The baggies I got at the Dollarama.

And this is the finished product. :)

Free Comic Book Day 2011

The first Saturday in May marks the annual Free Comic Book Day. This is something that the comic industry started about 10 years ago to promote new and independent titles, as well as to try to attract new readers. I first stumbled across this glorious day in 03, when I first moved to Halifax. Me being me, I get excited when I see a comic store, and I want to go in and check it out. When I walk in to Strange Adventures (a local comic shop) staff tells me to my delight, that it is free comic book day and I could choose 10 comics for free. It was fairly busy, but not entirely overwhelming.

The next year we went, the line up was quite a bit longer, and they had a door man to let people in at about 20 at a time. (Strange Adventures, though a fantastic shop with friendly people and the best deal around, is a small, little cave under a sex-toy shop). After that year, they decided to rent out a church hall, the next block over, and allow us faithful nerds to pick up 20 comics. By the time it came to this year, there were well over 1000 people of all ages who attended to pick up some free books.

What makes the Strange Adventures Free Comic Book Day so great is that they don't just offer the comics that are given from the comics companies as free books, but they also offer some older comics, which have been sitting on the shelf for a few years. Furthermore, they have games for the kids and a photo booth which had Thor's hammer and Captain America's Shield. Prizes were given out to people that dressed up in awesome costumes as well.

A nice haul

Again, big thanks to the folks at Strange Adventures.

FREE Box of Chocolate Cheerios

I just came across this neat website. It's called Websaver.ca. Not only do they offer a coupon for a FREE Box of Chocolate Cheerios (YUM!) right now and lots of other coupons, but they also donate 0.5 cents to Breakfast for Learning from each coupon ordered from their site, that is actually redeemed. Watch out though, you can get the FREE Box of Chocolate Cheerios on one day only, June 21 2011 - so keep that coupon safe and don't forget about it!

You do have to register, but it's quick. Next time they have a great offer or you want to re-order coupons, you can just sign in. Enjoy!

FREE Cereal from Kellogg's (Canadian Freebie)

Does everyone know about Save.ca? If not, it's a great website where you can register (it's quick!) and order coupons. The coupons are sent to your house at no charge. It usually takes around 10 business days or so to receive them. You can also re-order any coupons of choice after a certain amount of days.

Right now, Kellogg's has partnered up with Save.ca and is offering a FREE Box of cereal. There are three different cereals and you have to choose ONE. Kellogg's has additional coupons available (select the ones you want) and they will be mailed straight to your address.

Get your COUPON for the FREE Box of Kellogg's on the left hand side, by clicking on the link.

P&G Brandsampler + P&G Brandsampler for Men

Just want to let everyone know about this awesome samples! They are by far my favourites. I use them as travel toiletries and once they are done, they make awesome, real looking products in my daughter's even more real looking Melissa & Doug shopping cart (I'll go on about that another day).

You just have to sign up (which won't take longer than 2 minutes, I promise). Make sure you also subscribe to the P&G Brandsampler Newsletter when asked because they don't send it out a lot and when they do, you will be the first to know about their new samples and therefore won't miss out! Go to P&G Brandsampler to order your samples now. You will receive your little box of samples in 4-6 weeks time.

For the first time, I realized that you can also order P&G Brandsampler for Men, which you can use the same login information for as you use to order the P&G Brandsampler. Enjoy!

2 FREE Diapers from Fred's (Canada & USA)

I just signed up to get 2 FREE diapers from Fred's. Only the first 50 000 people that sign up will receive this sample until March 31 2011. Once the form was submitted, it said that I should receive the diapers in 6-8 weeks. In the fine print it actually states that this offer is only open to US residents but there is a drop-down menu where you can select Canada, so hopefully that will work. It took me a minute or so to get Canada from the drop-down list to work, so be patient. It only lets you put in one submission for free diapers.

ING Direct - Save Your Money

I'm really all for making easy, guaranteed money - I mean, who isn't? Well, my good friend introduced me to ING Direct and had to bait me for quite some time to sign up, I admit. This was only though, because I wanted to do my own research on it, to make sure that there are no hidden fees or anything. I have finished my research and I'm so happy to say that I signed up with ING Direct a month or so ago and am already $75 richer for doing...well, nothing but let a couple of other people know about ING.

Also know, that at any time, you can just cancel your account with them if you are unhappy or change your mind, but the money that you've made while you were with them, is still yours!

So - ready to make some FREE money? Here's how! All you have to do is sign up with ING Direct and have a minimum of $100 in your account. You do have to send in a cheque from one of your existing chequing accounts to verify who you are and put the money in (after that you can transfer the money between accounts) and you need a Social Insurance Number. Once your cheque has cleared and your $100 is in your account, you receive your "Orange Key". This "Orange Key" you need to give to your friends and family to sign up for their accounts, in order to score you $25 AND them $25. As I said, FREE MONEY and simple as that. Furthermore, after getting 10 people to sign up with ING, you receive a $50 bonus. You can refer people until you've made a slammin' $2000 off ING - then it stops...but hey, $2000 for just getting your friends and family to sign up, isn't bad now, is it?

Anyway, just in case anyone out there is reading this and would like to sign up, I'd love to offer my orange key, if you don't have someone else's to get started with. This would make each of us $25 - just comment on this post! Thanks. :-)
